Synching between 2 PC's
I have LB currently on Windows and Palm.
Synching to Palm is generally done as a "Desktop overwrites handheld" so I have a copy of LB to carry around but should I edit anything on Palm I do the reverse when I get back to my desk. All OK so far.
But now I also find myself away from my desk with a netbook.
What I'd like to do is buy a 2nd copy of LB (Windows) and have a way to sync them together. I've not seen any lit about synching between Windows installations.
Now, I'm sure I could
- hit save on my desktop
- copy the Life Balance data.lbd from my desktop to somewhere the netbook can access it (eg a networked drive)
- copy the Life Balance data.lbd from networked drive to netbook (while LB is niot running)
- fire up LB on netbook
Then if I do any editing, do the same in reverse.
However, this is not true "synching". Can I setup somehow to synch between multiple desktop instances and a common networked "master" ?
Thanks in advance.

Same question for Macs. Use handheld as conduit?
I have the same question related to syncing multiple Macs (desktop and laptop) and a handheld.
One possible workaround (not tried yet) is to use the handheld has a conduit between the desktops. That is, alternatively sync the handheld with one machine and then the other. However, this seems cumbersome. During the day I switch between desktop and laptop very rapidly and need to sync them directly and efficiently.
Thanks,
Bryan
It's just a document....
You really don't need to sync for the same platform. And going through the handheld is not necessary either.
Your Mac document can be copied from one Mac to the other, or kept on a network drive or USB thumb drive.
If you are syncing to an intermediate handheld and making changes from both the laptop and the desktop as well.... you need to do a "Save as" of the document when you copy over the document so that the internal housekeeping information for the sync to the mobile platform is maintained.
If you are just using one document, you can copy it around directly.
I hope that is helpful and clear.

True sync safer, faster, more elegant
Hi,
Yes, it is possible to copy the Life Balance files between machines but this is a be a slow, multi-step, error-prone process. Is it safe to do this with LBs running on the two machines or does the application need to be closed, at least on the machine receiving the new file? Even if a running LB can refresh itself from a new disk file, copying files also requires that we only update one version at a time and that we remember which was the last one updated. In an environment where one is changing computers frequently, this is a recipe for information loss. It would be much faster, safer, and more elegant to sync (merge) LB docs between two desktop machines just like the current sync between desktop and handheld versions.
Thanks,
Bryan
