recurring tasks-concept?
Hello. I'm just starting out and somewhat confused...I'm trying for instance to put in my job--I work 4 days a week, M-Th. If I set the recurrence to routinely, then it always says "overdue" which doesn't quite make sense...2nd part to that question has to do w/ settings on the top level folder, in this case the name of the job, as opposed to the settings for subfolders...I tried to maybe make a tast for each day of work, but it feels like maybe that's overkill. Then there are tasks like"maintain and improve skills" which doesn't really have a date--I just want to commit to periodically reading up on/practicing skills. Again, the recurrence thing makes it always overdue, or if I set it to "once" that takes it away, but don't know how that then affects the rest of the program as I don't do it once, I want to do 1-2times a month...
Thanks

Hi, let's see if we can help here

This depends on the period of repeat and the "lead time" you set. If you repeat every day and have a lead time of a day, then you are immediately ready to start again as soon as you check off.

Tasks should be to do with what you do, not when you do them. If you must use day-based tasks, then either you should use the calendar to schedule them, or use day-based places. Without knowing the specifics of your work, I can't say which is best, but I would lean towards using the calendar myself. YMMV, as they say.

Set it to repeat monthly with a one week lead time. That way it will appear in your todo list two weeks after you check it off, getting to full strength one week later. Assuming a four week month :-).

RE: recurring tasks-concept?
thanks for your reply, but I'm a still a little confused...could you give a specific example of how I would set going to work M-Th. every week? I think I'm confused by the concept of places too... I really feel like this program can be great, but the learning curve is so high that I feel like maybe it's better to just go w/ a simple to do list. thanks again.
RE: recurring tasks-concept?
It might help if you clarified what sort of task(s) you want to set up. Are you trying to get your to-do list to prompt you simply to 'go to work,' on appropriate days, or are you trying to get it to prompt you to do specific tasks while you're there?
