Why LB is only in english ?
Why not other languages ?

LB could help people from the other part of the world with life balance :-)

It is possible... and was done in the past (for the PalmOS)
An initiative was implemented to localized LB for the Palm with the help of the community. The tool is available here.
I am playing on my own to localize the LB version for MacOS in French, based mainly on the work done for the Palm version.
I hope that Llamas will help us users on this and that could be extended to the Windows and iPhone versions. And why not, start a redesign of the user interface?
Does it mean that it's not
Does it mean that it's not completed in French , so doesn't exist ? even not completed ?
Localized on Palm OS... not on other platforms, sadly.
Localized versions exist for many languages, but only for Palm OS.
If you want it... please do let us know.
Frankly, we were discouraged when we did the localization for the Palm version. I am sorry to say that we did not localize the other platforms due to the criticism we received... mostly here in the forums. People were harsh. (Saying that they didn't care because they only spoke English, We hadn't done anything useful in the update, etc.)
Much localization work was/is done, and WE continue to be enthusiastic about the idea.
I also continue to be concerned about how to manage the backlash when we DO spend time on "unpopular" or less visible features, like localization, synchronization, or Applescript, which may nevertheless be complex to implement and extremely valuable to the people who really need and want those features.
So, do tell us if localized versions would be helpful. (And if something we HAVE done has been helpful to you!) I would love to empower more people to live happier, more balanced lives. I love to think that our work on this software can help our customers to create more cheerfulness for themselves and those around them, and maybe that has a little positive impact on the world.

YES, localization is needed!
I can assure you that for people whose native language is not English, software localization is a most welcomed feature.
As I said earlier, I have localized my copy of Life Balance 5.05 for Mac into French. Almost 80% of the job is done. Some part seems difficult for me without the help of Catherine, Stuart, and maybe other French-speaking users.
That said, I can live with my localized copy for some times. I would like to see a localized version for the iPhone, but I cannot do it alone. Most importantly, it is more important for me to first see a new UI for the Mac version, and an iPhone version without bugs. Once done, we can then work on localized versions (including for the iPhone).

AppleScript is essential!!
Catherine,
For me, AppleScript support is essential! It allows me to integrate LB with other applications (Mail, Entourage, LaunchBar, QuickSilver, etc.).
Thank you so much for this less visible feature.
How can I obtain a dutch localized version for PalmOS
I am Dutch and interested in the Dutch (Nederlands) version. How can I obtain it?

It is not completed nor official
I am working on this French localization on my own initiative and it is not an official release. It is for my personal use only and I will not distribute it before the Llamas approves it. Sorry.
Catherine's reply shows an interest in localizing LB. But the Llamas needs help on this. I suggest that:
1) People who wants localization versions for Mac/iPhone/Windows express themselves;
2) We give a clear message on the priorisation level of localization compared to other issues/ideas/developments.
I think that localization is a good thing because it spread the use of the software beyond English-speaking countries. I personally consider it essential for a tool as close to a person as LB.
BUT for me, a strong iPhone version (with all the features present in the Palm version) and a redesigned interface for the Mac version are more important NOW.
Martin
yes, that is helpful to know...
Thank you Martin,
Yes, "Stability" is also a feature.
Stuart and I agree that is most important at the moment. The iPhone is a new enough platform and Life Balance is complex enough, that there have been a few surprises there. Making sure that the iPhone launch is successful is at the top of our list!

What is second on the list....
What is the "second" project on our list?
That tends to rotate more freely through the various other projects. :-)
Best wishes,

Just to answer on your
Just to answer on your "call" - now that the iphone version at least to me seems to be very stable:
I do not need an german version, but i would be happy to help in the translation process translating in order to make a german localisation. So in case i can be of help, simply tell me :)
But: if there are such versions released, i do think that there would be also at least one page on this website needed in the localised language - with a extensive summary of the features of LB ...
people who are able to to read the website in english usually don't care about some english words in an application .. and people who are not able to read the website-language usually won't try the localised version anyway imho.
