Palm hangs in "cleaning up" after sync
I've used LB on my Handspring Visor Platinum (PalmOS 3.5) for years.
Today I bought the Windows version too so I could sync the two.
Each sync appears to work OK from the PC point of view.
But the PDA ends up stuck with the final "Cleaning up" message and needs a soft reset.
Once I have reset PDA I can go into LB and all teh sync appears to have worked.
Any suggestions ?

Palm OS 3.5?! ~whew!~
Thanks for getting in touch with us. Palm OS 3.5?! ~whew!~
I would recommend that you do a Verify data on the Palm side, to make sure that the data there has not accumulated any anomalies from what we expect.
Secondly, how long are you letting the "Cleaning up" message go? That message is from the Hotsync itself, and Life Balance probably is done at that point.
It could be that the Handspring Visor is just being a bit slow to clean up after the sync?
You might also want to check the hotsync log to see if there are any other messages that we should know about.

Hotsync stalls on cleanup
If I set the Life Balance option in the HotSync custom option to "Do nothing" then my Hotsync process rune absolutely fine, and the cleanup is done in a flash.
But on any sync where the LifeBalance conduit has run, the hotsync invariably stalls forever at the end.
I am not talking "a bit slow". I'm talking forever (an hour with no apparent action )
Last time I tried it I actually got a fatal error during final cleanup.
(By final I mean that the Desktop app is done and the Windows USB beep has signified that the hardware is disconnected. There is a period when it says "cleaning up" before the USB beep which is also longer than usual).
But as I say, with LB disabled it does not happen. It is near instant.
I looked in the log on the PDA after the fatal error but it said "OK" by each item (starting with LB). Same on the PC log. Both logs agree on when the hotsync ended but clearly the Palm continued to display "cleaning up" long after the log file had been timestamped.
What exactly is the PDA doing during "cleaning up" ?
I should mention that I have a memplug springboard expansion modile with compact flash. Some of my apps run from there via VFS. But everything to do with LB is in real RAM and anyway the memplug disables during hotsyncs.
Nevertheless, I figured for completeness I should try an LB sync with said module removed. Same result. PDA indefinitely "cleaning up" and needs a poke with sharp stick.
I do notice that for a long time during LB conduit part of sync the animation goes very slow (when PDA says "TodoList") then it all speeds up with Wishes etc (when PDA says "DateBook").
Thank for the extra information...
Thanks for the extra information. That's very helpful.
If the log says OK next to Life Balance, then indeed, the Life Balance conduit is not running. Life Balance has successfully completed its work, which is consistent with you saying that after the reset all looks okay in Life Balance.
We were not actually sure what "Cleaning up" entails... we did some internet searches, and one suggestion is that the built in databases are having a problem and would benefit from a backup, delete, restore.
If you have the Palm set to do "import/export" to the built in To Do list databases, you might try turning that off, and see if it is helpful.
And again, I would recommend that you do a Verify Data first, even it is slow. (Make sure the device is plugged in, in case it takes a very long time.) That would let us know if the Life Balance databases on the Palm are sound. Although if the Hotsync log is saying "OK" then chances are the Life Balance databases are okay.
Still would be good to confirm that first.
Those are the ideas that (Hand) Spring to mind...

Palm hangs in "cleaning up" after sync
OK, verified data (but I think i did that when I first installed the PC app anyway.
Disabled sync of built in todo list.
No change to the overall stated problem though.
What seems to me to be the case is that cleanup is some general Palm thing at the end that cleans up whatever is left from the sync, and the LB Conduit leaves some artifact behind that the cleanup interacts (unsuccessfully) with.
Could this be a temp file that "cleanup" tries to remove but cannot because LB has not released it ?
I suspect I'm going to have to try a completely clean build of the PDA and hence "start from scratch" but that will take a few hours so I'll do it when I have a bit less on my plate.
I should have asked this earlier..
I should have asked this earlier, but what version of Life Balance are you using on the Palm side?
I would not do anything drastic, yet.

Palm hangs in "cleaning up" after sync
When I look in the Options/About Life Balance, it says "LB for Palm OS 3.5".
As far as I could tell, it sort of automatically upgraded the Palm when I installed the Windows App. So it might have been something earlier until I added the Windows App.
It certainly told me it had to change my data to a new format.
Thanks
