CRASH unexpectedly iln OS X

If I try to launch either the lifebalance program or my calendar file from the dock, I get the message that LifeBalance has unexpectedly quit. (Not everytime, but most times).
However, if I launch the program or file from the Finder, then I don't usually get this error.
I use MAC OS 10.1. 5 and LB 3.0.6.
I'm using LB from a nonadministrative user account. (E.g., there are two users on my system...one is the administrative one that I only use for installing programs. The other is my daily account).
--------
This morning, I found that I get the same error if I launch from the Finder while Apple Mail is open. When I quit Apple Mail and then launched LB (from the Finder) then it opened without any trouble.

RE: CRASH unexpectedly iln OS X
Hmm. This is not happening for us here. We have had a few people report something similar. There wasn't alot to go on, so we don't really understand the causes yet.
Nevertheless, there are a couple of things that you might want to try.
You could run Disk Utility, (booting from the install CD and then choosing Disk Utility which runs Disk First Aid) or the new Repair Privileges utility from Apple. You can get that at:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106900
I don't know specifically that it will help, but given that you are running in a non-admin account, it might.
You might try reinstalling Life Balance 3.0.6 to see if that helps. We have seen a couple of strange cases where someone installs a new piece of software and then reinstalling Life Balance afterwards fixed the problem.
If we get more information on this, maybe we can determine a pattern.

I thought that I should mention that I had to change the privileges on the LifeBalance Preference file (as described in another post) so that the registration number would be stored for when I was using my non-admin account.
RE: CRASH unexpectedly iln OS X
Hmm. Were any of these measures helpful or are you still encountering this behavior?
Let me know and we'll investigate further.

RE: CRASH unexpectedly iln OS X
haven't had time yet to try the fixes that you mentioned.
However, I haven't yet encountered the problem again. i'm going to keep notes about when it happens.
So far, I suspect that it has something to do with Apple Mail, Explorer, and running a hotsynch while either of these two programs is open. It seems that if Mail is open, I hotsynch, and then try to open LIfeBalance, I get the crash.
Or maybe it's coincidence. I'll keep more careful notes about the situation first and report back.
RE: CRASH unexpectedly iln OS X
The problem appears to be intermittant (sp).
When the program fails to open (e.g., crashes at opens & gives unexpectedly quit error), Apple Mail or Explorer is always one of the programs that is open.
However, if I close Apple Mail and try again, then the program launches with no error message.
RE: CRASH unexpectedly iln OS X
There was a bug in Mac OS X that got fixed in Jaguar (Mac OS X 10.2) that Life Balance seemed to be triggering intermittently.
We have recently updated to Jaguar here and we have confirmed that the problem went away.
Not sure if what you are seeing is the same thing. It is worth considering an upgrade to the OS, just in case it is.
