Can I sync to both a Mac and a PC using my PDA?
I'm interested in purchasing LB but have some logistical questions first. I have a Mac (10.3.2) at home and work on a windows 2000 computer at work. Can I sync LB to both computers with my Sony Clie (PEG-SJ20, Palm OS 4.0.1)? Currently I only hotsync my PDA to the work computer. I'm not even sure I can sync to both of these computers (i.e., the different operating systems of a mac and a pc) with my PDA for any applications. My priority is to use LB on the PDA and the mac at home but I would like the calendar to update on my PC at work, if possible, since I add a lot to my schedule and to ddo list at work.
Thanks for any help on this!!
Beth

RE: Can I sync to both a Mac and a PC using my PDA?
Hi Beth,
In general, there are no roadblocks to making this arrangement work, but it is more complex so you do need to be clear about what you want and careful about setting it up.
We cover setting up syncing between Life Balance on the Palm and two desktop computers in this FAQ answer: http://www.llamagraphics.com/LB/faq/detail.php?id=51
However, this does involve buying a second desktop license and from your description it sounds like you may not need to run the Life Balance desktop on your work computer? You say you "add a lot to my schedule and to ddo list at work". Does this mean using the Palm desktop? If so, then here's a suggestion as to how this might work.
For tasks scheduled "By DateBook"/"By Calendar" (on the Palm and desktop respectively), an event will be created in the Palm DateBook and this event will sync to the Palm desktop. So in that way, tasks you schedule in Life Balance will show up in your work calendar even without running Life Balance on the desktop.
Going in the other direction is a little trickier. If you want to schedule something on your work calendar and then link it into Life Balance, you'll first have to sync with work to get the event into the Palm DateBook. You'll then have to use the Link To DateBook command on the Palm to link the event to the task.
If you want to be able to add items to Life Balance from your work desktop, you could use the Palm To Do List and the To Do List import feature in Life Balance. If you also want items to go from Life Balance to the Palm To Do List on your work desktop, you could also use the To Do List export feature, but I would recommend against this as it's somewhat complex to configure and error prone. If you do want two-way syncing between the Palm and work computer of To Do items, I would recommend going ahead and getting the Life Balance desktop for your work computer.
Hope this helps and let me know if you have any further questions.
