Archived Tasks
Hello All,
I have made a midyear resolution to start using life balance regularly until my 40th birthday in August. I'm challenging myself to stick with something.
I have always liked Life Balance. It is the program I keep coming back to. I've tried Omnifocus, Outlook, and many others. I keep returning to LB.
One thing that challenges is the fact that all the completed tasks remain in the outline. I know that I can purge but that is less than optimal--I like for my calendar items to appear in my two do lists so that I am I forced to think about them and be sure I'm prepared.
How are people handling this? Is there any way to hide completed items. I like the way Omnifocus handles them.
Thanks!
Chris

Thanks, please clarify...
Hi there Chris,
Thanks for your kind support for what we're doing here. I'm not sure that I understand fully.
Why don't you purge? Life Balance will not purge any task that repeats or has a future occurrence.
The Outline is the one place in Life Balance where you can always see everything. I would definitely worry about hiding tasks from you in the one place where you can be sure to find things! :-)
Best wishes, and thanks,

I like to have datebook
I like to have datebook items show in the outline and task list. If I purge then they are lost. Sometimes I need to go back to my calendar to reference pasts appointments, meetings, etc. Does that make more sense?
Usefulness as a Diary
This has been my conundrum for years. Coupled w/ not being able to “correct back” the completion date stamps, I don’t find it useful for allaying my worries about my tasks. I’m sorry that this is true, but I do fret (much) over tasks. Outlook should work great as my Diary/Agenda. I even have it all formatted and organized exactly how I want it to work. (pretty cool! :D)
There are just two little factors where LB is vastly superior (she types drolly). That is that Outlook cannot tell me which task is the “best” to perform first, then next, etc. (love that!!!) and Outlook reliably, at randomly intervals, glitches the pst file losing weeks worth of details at a time. So, it is really wonderful that LB works each & every day. (ahh fundamentals! :D)
But could you please see about providing us some permanent look-back info? This would be greatly appreciated because right now, I am keeping both updated. It is a bit silly to have to check off each task twice for every one completion. Although, there is nothing funny about the cycle of frets which would haunt me if I couldn’t look back at my details. (yes ~ haunt ~ sadly)
Ok that’s my story. I’ve been waiting years to share this, but I didn’t think I would get much attn as a voice of only one person. So I lurked about waiting for a similarly minded post to join.
