Life Balance, Mobile Me, iCal, & duplicate everything

I have iCal sync set up with Life Balance. I have Life Balance on my iPhone and my desktop iMac (Leopard). I have a MacBook (Snow Leopard) that I use for school so I use Mobile Me to sync iCal between the MacBook, iMac, & iPhone (most recent OS). Life Balance is NOT on my MacBook.

Eventually, I wind up with conflicts that 90% of the time are between iCal/Mobile Me and Life Balance. Usually, I can't see any real difference between the 2. The same conflicts pop up every Mobile Me sync no matter which one I select as the "right" one. Eventually this gets so bad that I'm having to resolve conflicts on 40+ events.
As this happens, Life Balance starts showing tasks from over a month ago and they're listed as past due. This last one seems to happen when I have to select "Merge all data" on a Mobile Me sync.
I also wind up with duplicates for almost every event in iCal and in Life Balance.

I haven't been able to determine exactly what is causing this. I have turned off iCal sync with Life Balance for now to see what effect this has. I did this since most conflicts involve Life Balance. I miss it though.

Has anyone had similar issues?

Pretty complex, but ought to work...

Hi there,

While it is a pretty complex scenario with a four way sync, the map we drew from your description has no loops and ought to work. Furthermore, Life Balance is only doing a sync services sync to iCal on the iMac.

If the records WERE really duplicates then there would not be conflicts that you would need to resolve, so these records have some difference that may not meet the eye. Do the events have something in common? Do they all repeat as a similar interval? Did you modify them on one platform or the other? Anything that might indicate what they have in common might shorten the search for what's going on. Are they all birthday calendar events? Are they all in a calendar that you subscribe to from somewhere else, possibly "read only?"

We also have a couple of questions about where the iPhone is synching its Calendar. Is it to the iMac? Or is the iPhone synching to the MacBook? And is it using MobileMe or iTunes to do it?

Also, there is a developer tool that we can provide that can give us a more detailed log of what is happening during the sync.

Can you also open a ticket, so that we can get you that tool to help you isolate the problem? I can't post that here.

Best wishes, and thanks!

I see this every once in a

I see this every once in a while too. Not often though. For me it has only happened with repeating events. It usually happens when I am making changes to the MobileMe settings on one of my Mac's. The conflict box shows almost identical repeating dates but there is at least one date that is different. It might be related to iCal "delete events xx days after they have passed" preference settings. Or a MobileMe 10.6/10.5 compatibility issue?

My desktop is Snow Leopard (10.6), my laptop is Leopard (10.5), and iPhone.

I have a laptop that I do not use daily but take with me on trips. I leave sync preferences disabled until I am ready to travel. Sometimes I reload it fresh so it has no MobileMe account information. Anyway, I get these errors when I turn on sync or enter my account information for the "first" time. After a few syncs between all devices it tends to clear itself.
