Introduction: Zeph

Hello all,

Brief intro: Probably as with most people interested in organizing their time, I live a busy life in many different contexts and I'm looking for ways to keep myself organized and on track. I've been disorganized now for the last year or so due to school, looking for a job, move to a new city, etc. and made the excuse that I didn't have time to get organized and am now paying the price for that excuse. It's time for me to get back on track.

Some basic questions:

1) I'm sure this has been mentioned as a feature request, but not seeing it on the forums (it's email only, AFAIK) I'll ask here. I live life in many contexts (2 "work" places, school, home, in volunteer places and as all of us, "on the road", meaning not in front of a computer). Each of these contexts has their own goals and tasks. I use a Palm also. It's excellent for retrieving my to-do's calendar and contacts but it's a horrible input mechanism. What I really would like is some sort of web based hub from which I can synch my palm, computer (desktop and lap-top) and to enter when none of my devices are available to me (paper doesn't have a Find command!). Is there a way of synching Life Balance via some sort of web services such as Google Calendars, Yahoo Calendars, Remember The Milk, or even Llamasoft's very own central synch hub of some sort? Life Balance on the web. I'd pay for that! Alternately, is there some way of synching to Thunderbird using its new calendars and to-do lists?

2) I really like GTD's system, mainly 'cause it's designed to "empty your head" and then organize in an organic way. I'm NOT a methodical person. Never have been, never will be, it's why I must use a system. In the beginning, how to you approach the BIG goals such as buying a house, setting long-term goals, when you aren't yet organized in the small things in your life. How do you keep yourself pointed to using your system and not falling off the bandwagon ("I'll input it when I get home"--and then you don't!).

What tactics do you use inside your head to keep yourself pointed to using whatever system you are using. I have a hard time keeping motivated on what I think of as "life bureaucracy"?

Suggestions welcomed.
