Weekly Reports?

Hello LB Users,
I'm working out a method to use LB to create my Weekly Reports for my supervisor. Any suggestions or experience out there for how to do this.
Thanks in Advance,
Peter

Balance tab and Weekly Reports
The Balance tab in desktop LB shows completed tasks, which could help you in doing Weekly Reports. Unfortunately (IMHO), it only lists tasks by TLI (pie chart category), and is not sortable by date the way I'd like it to be. Seems like an easy feature addition (would anybody else find this useful too?).
Feedback please
One thing about the balance pie chart is that it shows a ratio. And you can make your chart as balanced as possible, but it doesn't reflect if you are actually getting anything done.
For instance, if you perform 8 tasks or 80, the chart will look exactly the same, as long as you balance the tasks. But performing 8 or 80 asks has HUGE impacts in terms of GTD.
I think LB is great but I would like to see some more statistics or reports. There is no measurement of how I am doing in terms of getting stuff done.
I would like to see maybe some stats reporting how many tasks completed today, yesterday, or in the last week. Also, perhaps, how many tasks per 'place', 'project'. Anything that will provide me with some feedback as to how I am doing.
If something simple like this would be implemented, it would mirror what is done with other GTD apps and quite simply blow them away.
That's a good point...
Yes, total quantity and throughput matters, and there is an opportunity for us to add in some more reporting and stats.
I am personally pretty self motivated... so I find that I like doing stuff... and doing more stuff is then even more motivating.... and the feedback loop happens by virtue of doing more stuff... and so on.
That isn't the case for everyone though. I have an energetic temperament.
:-)

reporting would be a great feature
Although it wouldn't help me at the moment, in the past I have had to produce weekly reports and often wished a simple report of completed tasks could be made available. So I second the original request, this would be useful. I'm sure there are others out there who would agree

a reminder
for Palm users, DayNotez will provide this functionality, at least the basics.
LB's real strength is in helping to get (the right) things done, and I'm happy to just use it for creating and managing tasks.
I'd only want to see the developers create extensive reporting features if they keyed off a decent time-logging feature, which would probably require reconciling the Outline's flexible-but-loose with a more structured Client/Project/Activity approach.
Personally I track time spent with a separate TimeSlips-type app and run reports off that. I've got more and more income from billable hours these days and need an accurate solution for tracking client work anyway.
But even if I was just on a salary, I find tracking how I actually spend my time to be very useful.
I've never found the pie chart to be that helpful as a historical view, even when I did try to use the "Effort" setting for a while. I do however use it as a high-level Importance slider, and since I got my TLI's set, now hardly ever adjust the importance on individual action items, but swivel the pie chart around at least a few times a week, sometimes several times in one day.
Agree with the above and possible intermediate solution?
I am a big fan of integrating solutions if it saves time. I would like a feature that would let LB report a quantity of tasks in a given time frame. For instance: Per day/week/month the # new tasks, #updated tasks & #closed tasks.
Time writing on the other hand is something completely different. I use the hours application for that. It's free and works like a charm. Also exportable to csv etc. url= http://hours.sourceforge.net/
To have that in LB would involve that you enter in a start time and a stop time for each task. That is a lot of micromanagement IMHO.
It is (with a bit of a hassle) also possible now (on my Palm at least). Follow me on this one.
Update each task upon closure with the time spent. Export the task to your Palm device. And after synchronisation you can select the tasks in your palm desktop, right mouse click and copy - paste to for instance excel. With a smart build macro you are good to go.
