...more thoughts and final summary.
Sorry - can't stop thinking about LB stuff today.. :-)
LB items' URL
Another very simple tweak would be to add a "get item link" function in LB.
So for example, if I select a project or goal or task in the outline I can copy to clipboard a unique URL that leads to that item. This will allow to integrate and interlink Life Balance TWO WAY with major project management databases that people use in their offices, or with online file systems.
Again, I am a strong believer that Life Balance is one of the most robust application out there, both in terms of programming elegance and logic. It should be able to handle the complete workload of a very busy Production Manager that is booked out two years in advance.
Which reminds me...
Design:
I suggest to pull together Importance and Effort into one Tab leaving the "Place" drop down menu at the bottom.
And then Add an additional Tab called "Places": that when selected will blend out the calendar and allow the user to see at least 30 places without scrolling! and then multi-select quickly as needed!
Am unusual Right Click Menu
How difficult is it to implement right click menus?
I suggest a right click that only includes Places — Nothing Else.
Sliders, and calendar on the right, Outline on the left, and places per right-click. Then additional tabs for Notes and the above described Places list
And last thing:
"ON/OFF Inbox" — Have the option to activate an a special Inbox-TLI. That is, a TLI that behaves like all others in the outline but is not included in any calculations and is not appearing *at all* (independent of projects' and tasks' importance setting) in the ToDo list and the Pie Chart. Design: This TLI can be black&white to indicate that it is "out of the coaching game" and the Inbox-TLI itself should have no importance/effort setting. Instead, one can set a default ToDo "process and organize Inbox" to appear when the Inbox TLI contains more than a certain amount of items, or if it was not changed for more than a certain amount of time.
To recap everything I wrote together:
THE MOST URGENT SCREAMINGLY-CRUCIALLY NECESSARY FUNCTIONALITIES are:
URLs enables Notes http, ftp, file, https..
and
Tagging Multi-select Places!
Then come
Unique URLs links for LB items
INBOX TLI on/off
Redesign Tabs
1) Move the sliders together (importance and effort)
2) Additional Tab for Places covering (temporarily) the calendar allowing comfortable multi-select
3) Rightclick
And finally as a last bonus:
show PDF files in Notes easy both on Mac and iphone/ipad/ipod
OK, I think I should cool down now. Very excited to know what you think. Hopefully that makes any sense to you.
Best,
Gavriel.
PS Maybe a good idea to put my three posts into one Topic with the different subjects for each post kept.
