Feature suggestions for task completion, history, and more
Hi,
Here are a few ideas that would make LB even more useful to me. These are in priority order of my needs. I'm using LB for Palm and Mac.
The calendar feature needs to support time zones properly. A lot of my calendar appoints come from meeting invites from people in other time zones. When I receive a meeting invite for an event given in Hawaii time, Ical and Palm datebook adjust this to my local time. However, when I link this event to LB the time in the desktop LB calendar is the Hawaii time, not my computer local time. This is confusing, the LB calendar should be in the local time of the computer.
Have the option to set the date/time when a task was done, useful when you did a repeating task a few days ago but couldn't check it off and you need the next instance to happen based on that past date.
Can LB associate tasks with calendar events without putting the LB number in the event note? Again, a lot of my calendar events are meeting invitations so the note is the body of an email. These numbers get overwritten if the note gets updated by a new meeting invite and to avoid confusion I have to avoid sending invites/updates with LB numbers.
Add a percent complete slider to the effort time. Then you get some credit for partially completed tasks. There should be a visual indication in the task list or outline about which tasks are started and not completed. I think that started but not-completed tasks should get a slightly increased priority in the balance calculations to encourage you to get them done.
Be able to sort the task list by effort so that one can find the task that will fit into the current time slot (I've got 20 minutes before my next meeting, what can I fit in?). One could also associate real time with the effort bar. If LB knows your calendar and the real effort (clock time) needed then it can suggest the right task for fitting into the available time.
Make it easier to see the history of repetitive tasks that aren't associated with calendar events. Since the effort may be different for each instance, show both the date and effort for each repetition.
In the desktop version, be able to see a time evolution of the pie slices (a 3D view?). That is, be able to selection of start/end dates and/or an interval for the view. Then you can see how your balance has evolved with time.
Thanks,
Bryan
