Hotsynch not linking to datebook - Outlook Calendar
Hello,
I am very confused. I haven't used my lifebalance much for over a year, though I used to use it all the time. I just joined the forums, tried doing a search, and am finding that I'm not even understanding much of the language used here. Now that I've set the stage, let me try to explain the problem.
I use a very simple PDA, a really basic one. Unfortunately I dropped and broke my old one, and when I had to replace it, I had to get a different model, and I bought a refurbished, discontinued(?) model, a PalmOne Zire 31.
That's when the problem began. It hotsynchs differently than my old Handspring did.
I use Outlook Calendar, not the Palm desktop one. But my Palm hotsynch offers me what appears to be duplicate options for synching that (and for other Outlook features, but it is the Calendar that is making the problem for me). It lists Outlook Calendar and Outlook Datebook. And I don't seem to be able to select both simultaneously, only one or the other.
As I say, I am really confused. I have gotten things to work sometimes, and not other times, and I am not sure what I have done to be successful and what actions have failed me.
Recently I got optimistic and thought I'd try again. To describe all the different problems and partial successes I've had would just confuse and frustrate me more, but suffice to say this: I have a number of appointments in my Outlook calendar for February. At some point or another I was able to get some of them into my Lifebalance, but now I can't get new ones to appear when I put them in my Outlook calendar. furthermore, the ones I did get show up, but on the LB desktop version as "not in calendar". And when I try "link to datebook" on my handheld version, none of them even show up.
Help! I would really like to begin using my LifeBalance again, because it is the only way I have ever been able to keep my tasks and schedules efficiently organized.
Thank you.

RE: Hotsynch not linking to datebook - Outlook Calendar
Well I've partially answered my own question, looking at the Palm site. This link - http://kb.palm.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE/,/?St=39,E=000000000050664194... - is from a knowledge base article entitled "Understanding the New Palm Conduits Included With recent handhelds". I also discovered on the Palm site that my Zire uses the Palm conduit for Outlook, whereas my old Handspring used the Pocket Mirror.
So I uninstalled and reinstalled my Palm software and combined that with this newfound knowledge. Still, I find that I'm having to delete all my February appointments from my Outlook calendar and re-enter them, because my handheld LB was not giving me the option of linking to them. I just don't understand that problem.

I find that there is a log somewhere that the Palm/Outlook Conduits use to flag what has been sync'ed and what has not. Backing up your data, removing the Palm Software, deleting all files related to the conduits, Hard-Reset of the Palm, the restoring the backup is way I was able to get things running smoothly again.
Unfortunately, It's about the palm/outlook conduits than LB.
Re-entering all the appointments for Feb sounds like the least-painful solution. Take heart, once it starts working it works well when you Sync often...
