Palm/Mac sync failing in Tiger

Trying to get my LB data from the Palm on which it's lived hitherto to the iPhone version via the desktop, I find I can no longer get it off the Palm and into the Mac desktop version (which I haven't used for some months, but have kept updated). Missing Sync gets as far as "Loading Wish DB" and then falls over with the following log:

Sync starting at 08/09/2009 23:15 (23:15:38) on USB (5.1.2)
Palm load failed
OpenConduitCarbon
OpenConduit
Palm loading
PalmHotSyncContext::LoadDBs

ConvertRawRecord
CFStringCreateWithBytes returned nil, MacString.cpp line 158: thrown from MacString.cpp, line 158. Error code 0.
Life Balance conduit version 5.1.1
Failed Life Balance 5.1.1 (0x4001)
Sync completed successfully at 08/09/2009 23:15 (23:15:57)

Versions used:
LB 3.5 on Palm, 5.1.1 on Mac (PPC)
Missing Sync for PalmOS 5.1.2
MacOS 10.4.11

I've run Verify Data on the Palm LB database, but it hasn't made a difference. The conduit is set to overwrite the desktop data with the Palm data; I haven't tried other settings because the Palm database is the primary one and I don't want to risk overwriting it.

Any idea what's happening here? I could try upgrading to Missing Sync 6, but I don't think that's where the problem is.

OK, workaround found

What worked in the end was moving everything (the LB app and all its Palm data files) from the T3 to an Alphasmart Dana and syncing from that. T3 continues to refuse cooperation, but at least I was able to get the stuff into the iPhone version.

Turns out I'll be sticking with the Palm version, as it turns out; only being able to see 8 items at a time, versus 15 on the T3 and 10 even on my old lo-res Vx, is a significant difference and for me a bit of a showstopper. But kudos to the Llamas for the Dana version, which I now find allows 41!
