Pasting tasks?
Posted January 18th, 2008 by lutorm
Hi,
(If you read my post about startup behavior, you'll know where this question comes from...)
I need to cut and paste tasks from one document to another, but it doesn't seem to work. When I select a task in the outline, the cut/copy/paste options are grey, I can only duplicate it. But duplicating it will not help me get the task over to the other document. Is there a way to do this without retyping everything?
Thanks,
/Patrik

You can use an exchange file for that...
The network disk setup that you mention in the other thread should work. We're still somewhat perplexed about that. There is the potential for an error if you leave the document open on another machine because there is no locking of the file. Maybe that factors into the mystery there.
On this question, though, Life Balance currently does not support copy and paste across documents.
We do support exporting a section of outline from one document into an exchange file (.LBE file), which you can import into the other document.
You can even import a whole document if you need to, because sometimes that is easier.
You can read about exchange files here:

Hope that is helpful to you!
