Palm Note Limitation???
Greetings,
I am reading the Advice Book and see that Life Balance supports only 2K note size. I am about to start crying. Almost all of my almost two hundred projects notes, and many of my hundreds of hundreds of task notes, have more than 2K characters in the notes.
If I import a task from the palm tasks application, will the note in the native palm task application be cut off at the 2K limit of Life Balance? From reading the documentation, it looks like as long as I don't edit the note in Life Balance it will remain in tact; however, what about if I edit the note of a linked item in the native palm task application, not in Life Balance? I guess that the note will be cut off at 2K when I sync. Is that correct?
I am sure this must have been a requested upgrade already, but I am sending another request now to make sure that it is recorded in your system. Please update the notes field to support the current Palm OS standard 32K.
I know that you don't discuss upgrade plans because of concerns about competition; however, this surely can't be considered something that would provide a competitive edge. Are there plans to increase the note size?
Thank You,
Dwight...

Not Receiving Help Desk Email
Greetings,
I have received my registration code, and the one message from you that stated that you had sent several messages, but other than that I have not received any Help Desk Email.
What is the email address that it was sent from? I will try searching for messages in my email that are from that address.
Thanks,
Dwight...
Now about your original question...
To get back to this question about the notes limitations.
We have a limit on the notes text size on the Palm side. There is no limitation on the note size on the desktop. However, if you do have long notes, if do not edit the notes on the Palm side, then the long notes will still be maintained during a sync between the Palm and desktop.
Why is that limit there? We used the smaller limit at the time that we wrote this code because the Palm built in to do list application (even on some newer devices at the time) still had the smaller limits. It was important for us to be able to continue to support import/export to the built in apps.
The limit could probably be raised now for more recent devices where the built in apps have also been updated. However, please, keep in mind that every feature request is evaluated within the context of all the requests that we receive for all platforms.
The reasonableness of any single request has never been in dispute...
:-)

Why not support Both New and Older Devices with Notes?
Greetings,
Thanks for addressing this issue. The notes limitation was the hardest for me to overcome because it involves the risk of data loss. I am setting up systems to use palm memos for task note items, but that is a very cumbersome work around. I am not trying to dispute your decision, but I have noticed that most applications still in active development, and again one million thank you’s for continuing to support the palm platform, but most all of them support the note limitations of older and newer devices.
Best Regards,
Dwight.
P.S. Please consider locking this thread so that I am not tempted to keep beating the issue. :-)
