Where is the LifeBalance Sync function on OSX Leopard version?
Posted January 12th, 2008 by Stonedragon
I just installed 4.0.5 on my new iMac. Eventhough I have installed Palm Desktop 4.2.1, I cannot see any Sync function wether in Life Balance nor in Palm Desktop. Synchronisation of the other stuff (calendar, contacts etc.) is no problem so far.
Maybe I'm blind, or why don't I see the lifebalance sync conduit anywhere?
To make it short: Please help me sync my life balance data ;-)
Thanks in advance for any help.

Syncing in Leopard
Hello Chris,
You don't mention it, but if you have a new machine, it is probably Intel - and if you are using Palm Desktop Hot Sync - not Missing Sync - then you will have to mark Life Balance 'open with Rosetta'. That option is available in the 'Get Info' about Life Balance. The reason you have to do this is that Palm hasn't updated the Hot Sync to Intel. After you mark 'open with Rosetta' there will be a Hot Sync menu inside Life Balance, where you can install the conduit and Palm Life Balance 3.4.1 and then continue to sync with the Palm.
You might want to look in the Advice Book under Install - it tells you how to get started with the first sync.
Hope this helps!

RE: Where is the LifeBalance Sync function on OSX Leopard versio
Hi there Chris,
Thanks for getting in touch.
You need to turn on Rosetta for Intel Mac on Leopard.
We're Intel native, but Palm Desktop isn't. You have to tell your Mac to run our app under Rosetta so that it can talk to Palm Desktop.
There's a screen shot in the updated docs in the Installation instructions that shows you what you need to do:

Thanks Catherine! If this works o.k., I'll be finally able to throw out my windows-installation finally and get a subscription for lifebalance on Mac ;-)
