Tip: Opening Life Balance automatically on Macintosh

I just discovered a neat Macintosh trick that might be helpful to our Life Balance customers who need a reminder to review their Life Balance to-do list each day.

In iCal, you can create a repeating event with an alarm that opens Life Balance each day at a particular time:

  1. Create a new event in iCal from the File menu and name it something like "Review Life Balance".

  2. Set the "from" time of the event to the time you want to launch Life Balance.
  3. Set the event to repeat every day.
  4. Set the alarm to "Open file" and to apply to all the repeats.
  5. Click on the new popup that says "iCal", and choose "Other..."
  6. Select your Life Balance data file in the open file dialog.
  7. Set the alarm to occur 0 minutes before the event.

Life Balance will now open automatically each day at the specified time. You can change the repeat settings to control exactly when Life Balance opens. For instance, using the "Custom..." setting and choosing a weekly frequency, you can open Life Balance only on weekdays. You can also open Life Balance multiple times each day by adding additional events to your iCal calendar.
