You may want to look at the crash log?

That would probably offer a few clues for us to go on...

You can find the log in the home directory/library/logs/CrashReporter/

Sometimes you'll see why the problem exists. (File is missing and you can get it from backup, or it is a permission problem, or something).

If you look at it and it looks like some kind of mysterious gobbledygook (which, admittedly, it might), you could open a ticket in the "support center" under the "support" option in the grey navigation bar up there in the blue and silver navigation bar.

You can attach the log there. If you post it here, that's okay too, but you may want to not post the whole thing, just the relevent parts. And when confronted with gobbledygook, how do you tell what part is relevant?
