Entourage user wants to know, Possible to use LB without calendar?
Posted May 23rd, 2008 by omio
I just downloaded the trial version of LB and see that there is a learning curve. I use Entourage as my calendar/email app and have no plans to change that. Is it worth the time and effort to use LB without syncing to a calendar? (I see that Entourage is not supported.)
Guess my main question is -- in order to use LB effectively, will I be able to use it as a stand-alone task manager or will I end up needing to keep two calendars? Would appreciate hearing your views. ;-}

Hi, I am using Life Balance
Hi,
I am using Life Balance with LaunchBar, VoodooPad Pro, Apple Mail, Entourage 2004, and iCal on my MacBook. You can certainly use a setting where you have multiple applications.
I don't use the sync functions yet, since I would prefer to be able to have calendars as contexts rather than projects (I understand that LB works that way for the moment).
I am forced to use Entourage at work, but prefer iCal. I then enable the synchronize function in Entourage to create and update an "Entourage" calendar in iCal. Some calendar items are duplicated in LB, but most of the time, I only add tasks.
I have developed a few applescripts to exchange information between the applications I am using. For example, I have scripts to:
- add a new task in my LB inbox from LaunchBar
- add a new task in my LB inbox from a mail in both Apple Mail and Entourage
- add a new task in my LB inbox from my VoodooPad notebooks
Some of them still need some improvements , but most of the time, they work.
You can have all your calendar items in Entourage and all your tasks in LB. With that setting, no data will appear in your LB calendar.
Hope this helps
