Synchronization failed in V3.4 after upgrade from 3.2.6
Posted November 14th, 2007 by hero4444
I purchased V3.2.6 one year ago. Everything had run just fine since then until I upgraded to V3.4. Life balance stops synchronizing between handheld and desktop. I already check the setting in Hotsync Manager and make sure the right document is choosen, but it doesn't work. I have no idea how to fix it. I am using WinXP SP2. My Palm device is TT.
The error message in HotSync log is shown as follows:
Unhandled exception: bad allocation.
Life Balance 3.4 synchronization failed
Thank you in advance.

Hi Hero4444,
Thanks for getting in touch with us about this.
Do you have 3.4 installed on the Palm as well? You generally want to have compatible versions on both sides of the sync.
There were data changes between 3.2.6 and 3.4, so you may also want to do a verify data on the Palm to see if that changes the behavior.
Best wishes,

RE: Synchronization failed in V3.4
Thank for the quick response.
Both Palm and desktop version of LB(V3.4) were installed, and I did verify the data on Palm side twice. Nothing was changed. This problem caused a long delay every time I did a synchronization. It was really painful to wait for the process to finish because of the high CPU usage and then return an error. That's why I go back to V3.2.6 now. Again, no problem with this older version.

Same problem with 3.4 on Palm Vx and WinXP SP2, the hotsync always ended in a fatal exception on the palm.
After I've changed the HotSync Action by disabling "Save up to ... Snapshots" the sync works fine again.
