Hotsync Backups even without Desktop ?

My subject's my post, though I can elaborate: for the Palm version, do I get backups safely stored in Palm Desktop's Backup folder even if I do not have the Desktop version to sync to ? Just in case.. you know.. something happens to my Treo.

You get one Hotsync backup in the normal hotsync to the Palm Desktop Backup folder. It is way too easy to overwrite your one good backup with a bad one once you discover that there is a problem on your Palm. Seen it happen.

Also the Palm hotsync backup only backs up the built in apps to the Palm Desktop software, not in their native format, which can be a problem. Backup Buddy is a good alternative to make sure you can restore the built in calendar too. If you are not using the Life Balance desktop software, Backup Buddy has the advantage that it will backup all your Palm data, for all apps, not just Life Balance.

If you are running Life Balance on the Desktop, we keep snapshots of your Life Balance data (and the related built in app databases on which it relies too) from before and after each Palm hotsync, for up to ten hotsyncs, which can be a real help if you get into a predicament.

Hope that helps to clarify some options for safeguarding your Treo data.
