Support for the whole family...

In the interest of "fanning out" the conversation across more than the "Welcome" thread, I was wondering if it would be helpful to start a thread here for our Life Balance customers who are family members and parents of kids with ADD.
Best wishes,

RE: Support for the whole family...
Hello Catherine;
I am looking at using LB myself, but am going to see if I can interest my ADD teenage son in the process. I come fram a family with a high incedence of dyslexia as does my husband. Looking at those same people, I would suspect that ADD runs rampant through the the gene pool as well (my guess is possible 3 of 5 siblings plus uncles, etc.).
From my experiance, I would say that people are affected both by ADD and dyslexia on a sliding scale, much like the sliding bar in LB and people can shift on that scale (especially for ADD) depending on what is happening in their lives.
Being a world class procrastinator, I'm hoping to set a better example for my son and get myself back on track with my goals.
Any tips or ideas would be welcome.
Beth
RE: Support for the whole family...
Hi there Beth,
Are you using Life Balance on the desktop or on the handheld?
If you are using the desktop, we support using more than one document from a single license of Life Balance, so you could use one document for yourself and another for your son.
Sometimes depending on where on that scale of abilities your son is, you may find that you need a section of your Outline for tracking some of his tasks, or for at least following up with him regularly. (One cycle of tasks as an example might include checking the status along the way for "Homework done?", "Backpack or lunch packed?" and after school asking if "assignments were handed into the teacher?" or "How did the math test go?")
You may even find sharing some sections of information through the exchange file format helpful. (Mom says, here are the chores for this week?) It would depend on how deeply into it you want to go!
And remember we'll do what we can to help along the way. So let us know what you want to accomplish and we'll try to think of ways to help you set that up. :-)
