Hello, all.
I was excited to see some ADD related forums while I was looking for general help with Life Balance. I'm trying out the trial version and hoping I can actually stick with a system after a lifetime of ADD organizational hell. It would be nice to actually accomplish things with some regularity rather than subject myself to only getting proficient at making lists.
I've got an organizational system which I think will work well, but I just need to figure out how to incorporate that into Life Balance's 'philosophy' and then connect it all together with my computer.
Adderall XR, anyone?!?

RE: Greetings,
Hi there Ron,
Great to see you here with the other ADDers among us.
You may find the audio podcasts helpful too, to jump start the process as you are getting started.

I have a couple more of those written that need to be recorded... so there will be more of these posted in coming weeks.
There are many resources available to you. So a warm welcome to you. Sit down, relax, spend some time poking around the site, and you'll find that there are lots of helpful ideas.
Best wishes,

RE: Greetings,
Another ADDer here. Life Balance has definitely helped me sort through task planning. A visual cue that gives me an idea of where I'm actually at versus where I *think* I'm at also helps.
One of my major ADD challenges of course is actually following through and DOING what's on my to-do list.
RE: Greetings,
I know what you mean.
The world sees us as underachievers, lazy, unable to fit in and downright incompetent. If they only knew how badly we wish that we could just follow through on simple things that they take for granted. To this day, I'll still walk over a piece of paper on the floor for a week before picking it up and filing it/throwing it away. It's not that we are lazy, it's just that the brain just doesn't make the connection to do these simple things that "normal" people take for granted. Med help, of course, when we remember to take them.
Now, where did I put my keys again, I just had them 2 seconds ago!!!

RE: Greetings,
Ron:
Hear, hear! I have the same basket of unfolded laundry sitting in the chair for the last couple weeks. It's like I literally didn't even realize it was there anymore and yet at the same time, I knew it all along. It's definitely things non ADDers take for granted. I'm not saying it doesn't take them their own effort & concentration to organize and do tasks. Afterall, to do list planners are made for them too! But for so many non ADDers, they really do have an internally built in sense of the follow-through mechanism. On my Palm, I actually have a recurrent task that has a daily alarm that goes off every morning to alert me to check Life Balance! Indeed I wish I could just wave a wand and be able to just do those simple things!
But I use LB to check off even if an item is showing up as overdue, and when checked, I still see a visual cue that shows me that in fact, yes, I do accomplish SOME things
RE: Greetings,
Thank you Addition,
I like that you've found a way to use the Alarms to make sure that you check in with Life Balance, and I'm very pleased that you can get the sense that you ARE accomplishing your tasks.
That's really wonderful.
I understand your point about non being wired for that follow through stuff. However, you may find comfort in knowing that just as a person who views laundry as one of my lower priority tasks... I can't say that it has never happened to me either...
:-)
Hang in there, and keep at it!
Best wishes to you,
