Thank you for supporting the Race for the Cure in Boston...

I completed the Race in 36 minutes even, and I felt good running the whole way. It may not have been my fastest possible pace, but it was the pace I could do and maintain my emotional stability for the day. We all really missed having Melissa there in the Parade of Pink for the survivors! And tears just streamed down my face again when they pinned the "In memory" card on my back. The last thing I wanted was to find myself ambushed by tears while running. I could imagine that leading to skinned knees and heartbreak. So, it was important for me to focus on running a determined and steady race.

Some events simply leave you feeling empowered, proud, and satisfied that you did them. Running the Race for the Cure is like that. You put your positive energy into it, and what you get back is more positive energy. Sunday was an amazingly beautiful fall day in New England. The weather was warm with light breezes. The sunlight was sparkling on the water around the UMass Campus. Participating in the Race for the Cure is a wonderful experience of shared strength, connection and purpose.

Thank you to everyone who supported that effort, to the organizers and volunteers who helped make it happen, and for your contributions which will help find better answers for other families. Thank you for all the well wishes along the way.
