When one phone closes, another opens somewhere

You might enjoy reading this article by Tom Yager on how the iPhone being closed to developers opens up a lot of interest in other devices.

The author of the article does confuse "open source" with "open APIs". Most OSes are closed-source, but the APIs are open so you can develop for them. The overall point though is on target. The iPhone floats other Linux boats too.
