 Vertigo was the most requested CD on our recent sailing vacation. We were aboard the catamaran, "Offline" in the British Virgin Islands which was outfitted with all the amenities including a Bose stereo system. We did not expect the overwhelming reaction that we got every time we spun up this CD. What is more, the album is diverse enough with collaborations with Stanley "BuckWheat" Dural , Jr. (of BuckWheat Zydeco) and Holly Cole that we kept getting the awestruck question, "Who is that?!"The answer was inevitably Jesse Cook - a Flemenco Guitarist from Canada who commands an unmistakable World Beat. This album is hot enough to melt right through a Canadian winter. Slip off your boat shoes and prepare to send those toes dancing to cuts like "That's Right!" Just when you need it there is a splash of something cool and refreshing, like a soft and friendly snowball in the face. A beautifully balanced album and our choice for our LlamaLlink this week! |
