    3.1 Thursday, October 31, 2002

    Desktop:

Added native Mach-O code for maximum speed under Mac OS X.

Changed the look of selected items in the Outline, To Do List, and Balance sections.

Added "Today" button to calendar views.

Added keyboard shortcuts in the Outline, To Do List, and Balance lists. See the "Tips & Tricks" section of the online help for details.

Added menu item to create a new file with our standard sample data.

Selecting the Notes tab now places the keyboard cursor in the notes field.

Clicking on the collapse/expand triangle no longer selects the task. This makes it easier to locate the destination for drag & drop.

Changed the location of the application preferences under Mac OS X so that they can be shared by non-administrative users.

Fixed a bug where Purge would incorrectly delete repeating calendar tasks.

Fixed a bug where checking off a task and then choosing Undo would not restore the next scheduled time of the task properly if auto-update was enabled.

Fixed a bug where the To Do List would not always add/remove a task appropriately when the place of the task was changed.

Fixed a bug where choosing "this and all future appointments" in the calendar would also apply to other appointments edited later.

Fixed a display glitch where changing a task to happen routinely did not update the due date in the Outline.

Changed the place name editor so that it does not allow empty names or returns.

Fixed a display glitch with the Next scheduled time popup menu.

The installer has been improved to avoid a problem that affected some people where the install would seem to not finish even though all files were installed.

The installer has been improved to avoid a problem where the Custom Install would install a corrupted version of the application.

    Conduit:

Added code to enforce Palm text length limitations during HotSync.

Added code to properly convert Japanese text during HotSync.

Fixed a bug where appointments with exceptions on the Palm were always treated as having been modified. This could cause unnecessary conflict icons on the desktop.

    3.0.6 Tuesday, July 9 2002

    Desktop:

Added code to automatically reopen the documents that were open when Life Balance was last quit. Note that this feature will not work if you close the documents in Life Balance before quitting.

Added code to support the mouse scroll wheel under Mac OS X. Note that because of a bug in Mac OS 10.1.5, this currently only works if a task is selected in the Outline, To Do List, or Balance section. Apple is supposed to fix this in the next release of Mac OS X.

Worked around a problem where multi-page documents would sometimes fail to print under Mac OS X when using custom print presets.

Fixed a bug where opening the same file twice would create a second window for the same document.

Fixed a bug where restarting your Macintosh would not prompt you to save changes to your Life Balance document.

Fixed a memory leak in the Undo/Redo code.

Fixed a display problem in the list of completed tasks in the Balance section when a deletion was undone.

Fixed a potential display problem in the To Do List when changing the place of a task.

    Conduit:

Added support for the Palm's To Do List export feature to the conduit. This should prevent changes made on the desktop from being overwritten by the Palm's built-in To Do List when the To Do List import feature is also enabled.

Fixed a bug where the conduit could create an incorrectly formed outline while trying to reconcile structural differences between the desktop and the handheld. This would cause HotSync to fail.

Changed the synchronization logic for appointments so that we don't try to undelete appointments for deleted tasks. This would cause HotSync to fail.

Made sure that any repairs to the Palm data get written back to the Palm, so the same warning messages don't reappear at the next HotSync.

Fixed a bug where the conduit would sometimes try to access information from a deleted appointment.

Fixed a bug where the next scheduled time for tasks that happen Routinely or by Date Book was sometimes set incorrectly. If you were encountering that mistaken case in a prior version, you could see tasks seeming to be past due when you install the new version and hit update. Once you set the next scheduled time correctly now in 3.0.6, it will stay calculated the way it should be. You will only need to fix that once manually.

Fixed a bug where the conduit would sometimes mark tasks with conflict icons when no real conflict existed.

Fixed a bug where changes made to the Palm's built-in Date Book were not always noticed by the desktop during HotSync.

Fixed a bug where Life Balance for Palm wasn't handling untimed events the same way that Life Balance for Macintosh did, which could cause the conduit to miscalculate the next scheduled time of repeating events.

Changed error handling so that the conduit will continue execution even if it is unable to reopen the desktop document in Life Balance.

    3.0.5 Thursday, May 30, 2002

Made a change to the conduit to recognize the conversion from 2.x to 3.x preferences so that they do not collide if more than one version of the Palm application resides on the Palm handheld.

    3.0.4 and 3.0.5 Wednesday, May 29, 2002

Modified the Palm code that runs during Conduit hotsync so that it would not timeout causing a "fatal exception" on slower devices or for customers with a large number of datebook records.

Provided an alternative implementation to wrkaround a resource limitation in the Mac OS that was triggered by opening files. This typically could occur at hotsync time, when the application would close and reopen a file.

Removed code that would place conflict icons on the desktop when a task's position in the Outline has changed in different ways on the Desktop and on the Palm. resolving this kind of conflict would not always work properly, so we have decided to automatically resolve this kind of conflict in favor of the Desktop.

After hotsync, Top Level Item color assignment is now recalculated so that Pie Slice color is no longer assigned to "Rhubarb."

    3.0.3 Wednesday, May 8, 2002

Added a field to the Palm version place records to record what place was substituted when a place is deleted from the Palm to allow the conduit to properly substitute a place in the desktop versions.

Fixed a bug where deleting places on the desktop was not properly updating the preferences on the Palm, which could cause problems in the places cache in the pop up menu for Places, for the import/export settings or the popup in the top of the To Do List view.

Enhanced the data integrity checker to repair certain problems that could have been caused by prior versions of the Macintosh conduit.

There was a change to the Macintosh conduit so that it will not abort with an error if it encounters deleted datebook records on the Palm. It might do that for people who have the Datebook conduit turned off for some reason or who are running other third party datebook conduits. Ordinarily deleted datebook records would not be visible to the Life Balance Conduit and would present no problems.

Calendars entries that are made in the Life Balance desktop edition, will now properly sync through the Palm Datebook all the way to the Palm Desktop. They were previously being written to the Palm Datebook only.

Modified the conduit so that it will handle contradictory structural changes in the Outline between the Palm and the Desktop Edition.

Added code to the conduit to be sure that after a hotsync the Outline on the Desktop and the Palm will be in the exact same order.

    3.0.2 Friday, April 26, 2002

Reworked some of the error handling code in the conduit so that the first few HotSyncs would generate clearer messages, or no messages at all.

Corrected assertion failure when synchronizing deleted tasks.

Merged in latest changes from Windows.

    3.0.1 Wednesday April 24, 2002

Tweaked conduit error messages on first HotSync.

No changes to the Macintosh application. Version number remains 3.0.

    3.0 Monday, April 22, 2002

      First public release.
