Mike Hanlon, publisher and editor of Gizmag writes, "Leading a balanced life is good for you. We all know that. Even the Dalai Lama teaches, 'A balanced and skillful approach to life, taking care to avoid extremes, becomes a very important factor in conducting one's everyday existence. It is important in all aspects of life. So how do we manage to get it wrong so frequently? Why do we continually forget about the reasons were doing the hard yards in the first place. " Gizmag's editor further remarks of the Life Balance software from Llamagraphics, "It sure beats confronting an endless to-do list!" Mike Hanlon "So what makes Life Balance the perfect meshing of Covey's First Things First methodology and Allen's Getting Things Done? GTD tends to stress urgency over importance, but Life Balance enforces a focus on importance, often showing things at the top of the list that may not have any urgency while moving foward a vital long-term goal. This importance-focus promotes greater effectiveness than the efficiency the GTD system fosters. It also creates an obvious connection between your core values and your tasks, so you know you're doing what really matters and not just putting out fires. Life Balance is also very easy to set up and maintain compared to mixing and matching an outliner, a task list and super-calendar application. The integration in Life Balance is tighter than any mix of other applications. Life Balance lives up to its name. It's a great way to record everything in your life, decide what do about it and get it done while being confident that you're not only doing things right, you're doing the right things. If you want to make some serious progress in your life towards the things that really matter, you owe it to yourself to give this program the full thirty day trial." Jeff Kirvin "Regular usage of Life Balance will point out something crucial that most people don't know: the most important thing for you to be doing right now. And if you pay close attention, you will start to learn, based on your actions, something very useful: which things you think are important to you, but actually are not, based on your actions." Jeff Porten "We Recommend: Life Balance Personal Coaching Software Life Balance software, much like a Palm Pilot or Outlook Calendar, is designed to organize and prioritize tasks. Unlike a date book, however, Life Balance is meant to facilitate a personal coaching experience of assessing what is truly important to you, implementing a step-by-step plan to reach each objective, and maintaining your health and well-being in the meantime. There are even pie charts to illustrate exactly where your time DOES go. The downside? You have to really enjoy using your Palm or desktop computer to record the minutiae of your life, and be diligent enough to log it on a regular basis, or you won't benefit from the program. Version 3.2.1 of Life Balance for Palm OS, Macintosh and Windows, $39.95 to $79.95 available at www.llamagraphics.com." September/October 2003 "I found that thinking about my life as a hierarchical structure, on the occasion of configuring Life Balance, was a pleasurable, rewarding experience. Two days after inputting Tasks Of My Life, first draft, into my Handspring, it felt so great to see the home half of the task list disappear during work hours, and pop up after hours. Operating LB on a daily basis had me hooked on my ever-changing task list. A month later, looking at the pie charts, I learned a lot about the stronger and weaker points of my time management skills. Indeed, I could literally see that I work too much; play not enough. My real-life personal coach was elated." Edo Amin, Life Balance for Palm OS was featured prominently in edition 33, in an article called "Yin & Yang - Life Balance am Palm", which is published by PalmTop Pro Magazine. The magazine is available online and sold on all newspaper booths within German speaking Europe, as well as by subscription worldwide. Life Balance for Macintosh named "Shareware des Monats", Shareware of the Month by MacWelt Magazine, MacWorld Magazine, Germany! You can find the article in the November issue, 2002-11, p109. Life Balance recognized among best Palm OS software applications of 2001 Handheld Computing Magazine Honors Best Palm Powered Products of 2001 at PalmSource Conference Franklin, MA. -- February 12, 2002 -- Life Balance has been named among the three top productivity applications for Palm OS in 2001 by Handheld Computing Magazine at the 2002 PalmSource conference in San Jose. Life Balance is coaching software that prioritizes career and personal life tasks in a dynamically generated list. "The wealth of excellent software and hardware for the Palm OS platform is amazing," said Denny Atkin, editor-in-chief of Handheld Computing Magazine. "To pick the best from a field of over 17,000 was a challenge, and were pleased to be able to recognize these stand-out products." "Life Balance from Llamagraphics is surely the single most useful program I've got running on my Palm device. It's simply the best time management software I've found on any computer. It allows me to perform both personal time management and tracking of tasks I've assigned to my team members. It was almost worth buying my Palm IIIc just to be able to use this wonderful application." "Calling Life Balance a 'To Do List Replacement' is like calling an F-22 fighter jet a faster way to get to work. This time-management program, which began life on Apple's Newton MessagePad, has migrated to the Palm, and there's not a busy person on the planet who won't benefit from it....it's one of those rare and powerful software tools that you'll soon wonder how you lived without." A Handheld Computing Magazine Top Pick! "This program is good enough to make any paper planner user make the jump to Palm, as it not only replaces the planner, but improves upon it by leaps and bounds...A Geek.com Pick if I have ever seen one!" "When you buy a piece of software, you don't usually expect that it's going to ask you to think deeply about your life and what you want it to be about. Life Balance, however, isn't most software." "Innovative... Life Balance's analysis of how successful you are, and self-adjustment based on that analysis, is unique." PalmUser magazine (issue 4) "Life Balance by Llamagraphics brings to the Palm OS an excellent Life Management Solution that gives the user a real time "Check Up" as they complete tasks that matter." |

"Dear Llamagraphics,
I'm a longtime Life Balance user -- since the Apple Newton days! -- and I still use LB every single day. That's a kind of staying power that doesn't come along very often, and I think it's a testament to the cleverness and brilliance of this killer app. Thank you for making such an amazing, intuitive, and most of all, imminently practical app. I love it, love it, love it." Lee H. Coleman, Ph.D., "I have been testing LB consistently for about a week now and while I am learning to use it, it becomes more fun and more valuable to me every day. As I was trying to live up to my 2004 resolutions, it was just the program I had dreamed about - control over my tasks with soul." Jeanne C. "Greetings, A short note to say I took a peek at LB on Palm, thinking I might find and report a bunch of bugs; I sometimes do this to show software developers (prospective clients) samples of my work. In my short look, the only thing I noticed with LB was that, on the Palm OS 5.0 Clié NX60, the Graffiti/keyboard show/hide control isn't supported, so it doesn't take advantage of the opportunity for extra real estate. Looking at the credits for the Palm UI guidelines, I think I see why LB is so well-behaved. (;-) I believe the Mac version was also in very good shape (there are some apps in which I can find 20 bugs by just looking at the menus and a couple of dialogs)." Doug Grinbergs * Mac, Palm, Unix software testing * "...most of us are used to being driven by the urgent and we buck when Life Balance's ToDo list pops up and says something like, its really important that you go and spend some time with your family right now! And you think, Arrgh! It's 6:00 p.m. And I really must get this report done before I go home. Life Balance is showing us that there is a mismatch between important and urgent which needs our attention. But, hey, it's only a software program what we chose to do about that mismatch is up to us Life Balance just lets us know it exists. If you want a to do list which says; Here is a list of things you could be doing. I have put the most important items at the top and marked the urgent ones now you choose which item you want to work on next, then Life Balance is the best perhaps the only tool of its kind." David Ford "My PC had a meltdown the other night and I didn't waste any time purchasing a brand new iMac! What made me do it? Why Desktop Life Balance, of course. Just thought you Llamas might like to know . . . you've been far more effective than Apple's Switch campaign." --Dan "Just wanted to pass along kudos and a big thank you for developing software that really works with macos X (or 9 for that matter. :) Recently I started migrating over to 10.1.5 of macos X. For Life Balance all I had to do was 'nothing' period. All the other software I have was a HUGE struggle to migrate over even though they stated it was macos X compliant. Your software package is a gem and the developer(s) have kept it simple yet feature rich....KUDOS!!!!" --chrisc "For over a year, Life Balance for Palm has been helping me juggle all the aspects of my life. With Life Balance for Mac, I can manage my To-Do list even more easily; adjusting importance is fast and simple, and finally my list _truly_ reflects what I need to do right now! The only problem with Life Balance is that now I have _no_ excuse not to do what's important to me!" --slc "Dear Ms. White: Thanks for your note, and for Stuart's gracious and helpful phone support for my order. I've been very pleased with Life Balance so far. The ability to assign a place and various kinds of "weight" to items (effort, time, importance), coupled with the "intelligent" feedback in the "To Do List" and "Balance" screens makes LB much more useful than typical to do software... LB's automatic feedback is helpful, but even more helpful is the way that it encourages you to reflect on the various weights that you have assigned to tasks." H. Lewis Ulman, Associate Professor of English "I'm afraid I don't remember when I bought Life Balance...it's like my nose, it feels like it's always been there..." Jan Nedelka "Just wanted you to know. Completed week 3 of working with LB. Very happy with the software. Is making a big difference in my life. Happier with things than I have been in a long time. I really owe you folks big and hope to repay you someday. Maybe we can do lunch one of these days...." J.D. "Many thanks for the life balance product - it really is making a difference to getting that balance between work and home, and to my sense of achievement. I can't wait to see the desktop application as I find myself constantly reviewing and detailing the tasks required to achieve an objective - rather than thinking the objective is too daunting." Julian "BTW, your website is so helpful and encouraging and full of positive energy. I feel more in control of my life just reading it." Peg, UC Berkeley Thanks so much for, as always, your very quick reply. I'm thinking of tatooing the license code on my leg. If you don't get enough words akin to 'superb' it is because people in general prefer to moan than to congratulate. Life Balance is a fantastic resource for the profoundly-organizationally-handicapped such as I. And by the simple fact that one has to break tasks down to enter them, it may actually begin to reorganize one's neurons... Roberto, MD "What a great deal! Your software, customer support and website are so innovative, powerful and user-friendly... Thank you for all." Susan S. in St. Paul "Thanks so much for your prompt response to my technical support question about Life Balance. (On a Sunday no less!). I really love Life Balance... it's a great value!" Joel E. Crockett "I absolutely love the program. I told my friends that I would buy a Palm when you came out with Life Balance for it. Well, I could delay no longer! I haven't felt better since I last used my Newton with Life Balance. It is so nice to know that my priorities are being 'remembered.' Life Balance actually is responsible for a significant reduction in my stress! Thanks for a wonderful program, and a great Web site too!" Gerry Power, Ontario, Canada "I want to tell you that I am a complete convert. I just purchased my LB Rev. Ryk Brown "THANKS for such an innovative piece of software as Life Balance. (Actually, I would rebaptize it to LifeJoy!)" "LB is just the greatest task/goals management program I've seen so far!" "Wow, my favourite Newton program is back! This is today's best news! I was sorry to leave Life Balance behind when I switched from my Newton to a Palm Pilot about three years ago." "I really like your program. It puts all "to do lists" to shame...." "...I am starting to think that one virtue (among many) of your software is that it raises the question 'if I need to postpone lots of stuff, what does that say about my declared goals and priorities' (which is something that I find it much easier to avoid confronting in standard to do list software)." "This is a great product and has helped me become a lot more organized already!" "By the way there is no way I'd give up this product now and I've only been using it a month or two. It's great!" "Yours is the most useful third party software for Palm that I have had the privilege of employing." |
