Michael J. Rowny, MIT

Rowny was responsible for MCI International operations from 1994 to 1999, negotiating the company's strategic alliances, acquisitions and divestitures. He played a critical role during negotiations of the merger of MCI and WorldCom. (He left WorldCom after the merger was completed.) He had previously been with MCI from 1983 to 1986 during the break-up of the Bell System and the beginning of equal access, when he served as vice president and treasurer of the company, and also senior vice president of finance for MCI's long distance business.

During his career, Rowny has held positions as chairman and CEO of the Ranshohoff Company, executive vice president and CFO of ICF Kaiser International, CEO of Hermitage Holding Company, vice president of the Bendix Corporation and Deputy Staff Director at the White House during the Carter administration.

Rowny holds a B.S. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Rowny also serves on the boards of several other companies including Step 9 Software Corporation and Intelliden.
